Marie´s PhD project is a part of P4FIFTY, a European network aiming at development of P450 monooxygenases for the chemical manufacturing industry. P450s is a group of enzymes with a lot of potential since they are able to catalyze the oxidation of unactivated hydrocarbons in a stereospecific manner, something very difficult to achieve by classic organic chemistry. P450s are suitable for whole cell catalysis but these processes also have their bottlenecks. Marie will focus on the process development and especially evaluation of oxygen supply methods, solvents facilitating substrate supply and product removal. Throughout the project the processes will also be evaluated from an economical and environmental perspective.
