The Board of Directors of Independent Research Fund Denmark has appointed new members to its five research councils. Among them is our own Head of PROSYS, Professor Krist Gernaey,
who joins the council for techonology and production.
The five research councils consist of a total of 75 renowned researchers. They help distribute risk-tolerant funds, approximately DKK 1.9 billion in 2024, to researcher-driven, independent research in both basic and applied sciences. Additionally, Independent Research Fund Denmark advises the Minister for Higher Education and Science, the Danish Parliament, and the government on research-related issues.
The council members are appointed by the Board of Directors of Independent Research Fund Denmark in a personal capacity following an open call and nominations from research communities and other stakeholders. Appointments are effective from 1 January 2025, for a four-year term, with the possibility of reappointment for an additional two year
