Join our successful department as a fundraiser

Will you take responsibility as our fundraiser/Pre-award Grants Coordinator and proactively support our researchers in applying for research funds from international sources, such as the EU and major Danish public and private research funds for excellent research?

DTU Chemical Engineering is a large department with 250 employees. The environment is multidisciplinary, ambitious and international. Our application success rate is good – due to professional researchers and relevant research areas.

DTU central administration has colleagues with highly specialized knowledge of grants such as ERC, Marie Curie, DG, Novo Nordisk, Villum, etc., and in addition supports major strategic applications. We work together with DTU central administration with a high degree of synergy.

About the position
The competition for research funding is increasing, and at DTU Chemical Engineering, we continuously seek to maintain and develop our high research level and at the same time search for new funding. Therefore, it is a very important task for the department to continuously reach out to private and public funding opportunities in the ever-changing funding landscape, both at national and international level.

Such an effort requires professionalism and highly specialized knowledge.

In the application phase, you must help with information and sparring about application opportunities and conditions for various application rounds, as well as be in contact with private and public funds. An important task is to be at the forefront of upcoming application rounds and disseminate them to the researchers.

The department covers many disciplines; polymers and coatings, energy and environment; chemical and biochemical process technology and design of chemical and biotechnological products and processes.

In the application phase, our researchers need professional sparring regarding the specific requirements of the application, both the precise formats and documents, but to a large extent also for structure and substance.

Finally, there is a need for ongoing follow-up on success rates and analyzes of what succeeds and fails and why. All this must be used dynamically in the further work and continuously be discussed with the management to be able to make strategic initiatives.

The job
Your tasks will include:

  • Create an ongoing overview of relevant sources of external funding and communicate these to researchers and management
  • Assist researchers with strategies in relation to different types of grants, including ensuring that the applications both in form and content meet the requirements set by the funding sources
  • In collaboration with DTU's central research support unit contribute to writing applications and contribute to strategic input to promote specific research topics for future application rounds.
  • Be the department contact to DTU's central research office
  • Evaluate applications across the department and ongoing initiatives
  • Be responsible for department-specific procedures in relation to project application and project start-up.

It is important that you can plan and prioritize your tasks, and seek information and opportunities. The position requires experience with the application phase. You probably have experience from e.g. a private or public research foundation and/or a university environment.

  • A relevant academic education and a minimum of 5 years' professional experience with funding applications. In-depth knowledge of the national and international landscape
  • Good formulation skills in written English, and orally in Danish and English

In addition, you need to be good at maintaining the big picture in a complex task portfolio. You are flexible; committed, service-minded and provide support based on the needs of the individual researcher. You will be collaborating and communicating with people with different backgrounds both internally and externally.
