We are very pleased to announce that Professor Nicolas von Solms has been appointed as new CERE chairman from 1.11.2020.

He succeeds professor Georgios M. Kontogeorgis who has been the CERE chairman since 1.7.2014.

Nicolas has been employed at DTU since 2001,first as post-doc,then since 2005 until recently as associate professor. Hewas appointed full professor this year.

Nicolas has a broad background and expertise which includes chemical engineering fundamentals (especially applied thermodynamics), CCUS (Carbon Capture, Transport, Use and Storage), flow assurance and materials. Nicolas hasseveral collaborations with industry, chiefly with CERE member companies.

Professor von Solms mentions about his future as Chairman of CERE: “It is a great honour and responsibility to take over the leadership of a center with such a long and storied history. I hope to continue the excellent work done by my predecessors.

The CERE industrial consortium is one of our greatest strengths and the connection to international industry has been a hallmark of the center ever since its inception in the 1980’s. As chairman I will continue this tradition -  consolidating and strengthening collaboration with our consortium members.

CERE is also unique in that it is a collaboration across several departments at DTU – DTU Chemical Engineering, DTU Chemistry, DTU Compute, DTU Civil Engineering and DTU Space. This unique construction enables an interdisciplinary approach to solving large problems – an approach which is necessary for example in CCUS, an area where I plan to initiate one or two larger projects across the departments.

Naturally we will continue to provide a high level of service to our member companies – software, access to publications, annual discussion meeting (hopefully in person in 2021!), experimental data, research directions discussions and more.

I look forward to the continued success of CERE!”
