The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering invites applications for a position as Chemical Engineer to Pilot Plant.

Do you have production or Pilot Plant experience within the area of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food, Pharma or Energy? Then we have the most interesting and challenging job for you.

We are looking for a Chemical Engineer to help support and develop our Pilot Plant, which is in the progress of a major expansion primarily within fermentation and downstream processing.

Responsibilities and Tasks

You will:

  • Design, help construct and implement, commission and operate Pilot equipment and system setups
  • Maintain and develop the existing Pilot Plant equipment park
  • Do project development and management
  • Teach students in relevant practical unit operations as well as relevant theoretical courses
  • Support students and industrial collaborators projects and research
  • Support our research centers in pilot scale operations

Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with a Chemical Engineering degree or similar and with preferably 5+ years practical experience from the Life Science, Food or Chemical industry within production and/or Pilot Plant operations. 

You should have talent and an interest to participate in teaching and support the students in their chemical unit operation courses and research projects. Be fluent in Danish and English.

Who we are:
We are a small core team of four members with a dozen faculty professors associated in a cross functional matrix organization.

Our large Pilot Plant resides in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at DTU, serving its approx. 300 employees and many students. Besides education and research, we support technology and process development within the industry and academic world. We consider us to be a world class chemical, biochemical and pharmaceutical pilot plant with more than 700 m2 pilot hall area and a 500 m2 expansion project in progress. The existing facility collects +30 industrial scale pilot plant set-ups representing all chemical and biochemical unit operations, and is supported by our associated laboratories and our skilled workshop.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The position is a permanent position at the DTU Lyngby Campus.
