Industrial PhD Student for Nilfisk - Soil Detection

Right now, we are looking for an Industrial Ph.D. Student to conduct research within the field of Soil Detection.  

The results of the project are major contributors to the Nilfisk vision of leading the professional market by supplying the best products. The project will have close cooperation with the Nilfisk R&D community in Connected Autonomous Solutions. 

The purpose of this PhD is to be able to detect the type and amount of soil on a surface. Soil means in this context any kind of soil like dust, sand, coffee stains etc. – basically anything that would make a floor or a carpet dirty. The system will further be used for documenting the cleaning results and for optimizing the cleaning process. And thus to design the best performing cleaning machine.  

The content of the project includes:  

  • Map out detection possibilities.  
  • Establish experimental set-up
  • Create analytical or numerical model for detection.
  • Make laboratory prototype.
  • Create a model where detection is used to document and optimize the cleaning process  

Qualifications 
You should have a master’s degree in Chemical or biochemical engineering or mathematically modelling and computation or similar. If you have experience with image analysis and robotics technology it is a strong advantage.  

Approval and enrolment  
The PhD degree is subject to academic approval and the candidate and will be enrolled in the Chemical and Biochemical Ph.D. programme at DTU.

Salary and appointment terms  
The PhD project has a duration of 3 years, but Nilfisk offers you a permanent position with an attractive salary.
