Professor Irini Angelidaki from DTU Chemical Engineering has received an Advanced Grant from ERC, the European Research Council.
The grant of EUR 2.5 M will for the next five years fund research in a completely new way of performing fermentations with designer microbial consortia. This will have an impact on future technologies for using residual biomasses to produce bioproducts, biochemicals and bioenergy The project will contribute in promoting transition from fossil based economy to bioeconomy.
KT is the only department at DTU with three active ERC Advanced Grants. The grant supports excellent researchers who are already established research leaders with a publication list of significant research breakthroughs. Professor Irini Angelidaki is exactly that with her vast expertise in bioconversions and fermentation, more than 700 scientific publications and over 5 patents taken.
