Crown Prince Frederik attends inauguration of CO2 capture pilot plant

A big day for Philip Loldrup Fosbøl, when his and his team's CO2 capture pilot plant at Aalborg Portland A/S was inaugurated by HRH Crown Prince Frederik and European Commissioner Kadri Simson. The pilot plant will test a new technology that can reduce the energy consumption in CO2 capture.

Other notabilities at the event were European Commissioner Kadri Simson and Lars Aagaard, Danish Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities. The inauguration was part of the the third edition of the carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) Forum in Aalborg, Denmark. 

The newly inaugurated pilot plant for CO2 capture has been built under the auspices of the EU-supported project collaboration ConsenCUS led by Assoc. Professor Philip Loldrup Fosbøl and consisting of a number of international research institutions and companies. With the plant, a new technology within CO2 capture is tested that can potentially eliminate a significant part of the energy consumption in CO2 capture and ensure better utilization of the collected CO2.

The CCUS Forum was organised by the European Commission and The Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities.
