Annual Polymer Day

Annual Polymer Day takes place on October 2nd 2026

An afternoon event with presentations of the most recent research from the Danish Polymer Centre (DPC) at DTU Chemical Engineering, as well as an opportunity to network and discuss polymer science through a late afternoon poster session.

The event will be possible to attend physically as well as in a hybrid format, where we will make the presentations available for streaming. The poster and networking session will only be accessible for physical attendees.

CHEMO-ENZYMATIC PROCESSING OF PLATFORM MOLECULES TO BIOBASED POLYMERIC MATERIALS

Alessandro Pellis

University of Genova, Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry, via Dodecaneso 31, 16146, Genova, Italy

Bio-based polymers synthesized from renewable resources are one of the effective answers that the bioeconomy offers to solve the environmental emergency connected to fossil-based plastics. There is a rising demand for advanced materials displaying new functional properties while meeting higher sustainability criteria such as the possibility for the implementation of an easier recycling/upcycling technology. Some examples of these novel materials developed by the Chemo-Enzymatic Processes Laboratory of the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry of the University of Genova will be discussed in this presentation.
