Bioprocess engineering

Biotechnology is focusing the efforts in providing sustainable and competitive solutions for fuels, chemicals and materials using renewable bio-based feedstocks.

Biotechnology offers many possibilities for new medical therapies, pharmaceuticals, bio-molecules, and other important bio-based products.

The opportunities of using bio-chemical processes emerged from new scientific and engineering developments, increased availability of new enzymes and modified microorganisms for specific tasks, and form industrial requirements.

The advantage of the bio-based processes is that they follow the principles and metrics of green chemistry and sustainable development.

At KT Consortium we have expertise with following:

  • Biotech /biopharmaceutical processes
  • Downstream processes for bio-based manufacturing (such as crystallization, chromatography, evaporation, distillation, among others)
  • Bio-catalysis
  • Fermentation (pure culture and mixed-cultures processes, scale-up)
  • Biorefinery processes (pre-treatment and hydrolysis, conceptual design, supply chain analysis, etc.)

Many of our projects are in direct collaboration with industry
